A good rain gauge should do two things well: accurately measure rainfall and be easy to read. Ours also happens to look great in the garden.
The Original Floating Rain Gauge® uses a seamless solid copper water collection container that won't leak. As rain collects, the floating measurement tube rises, making the rainfall easy to see without crouching over a small tube or trying to read tiny numbers.
Knowing how much rain actually fell helps you make better watering decisions. Whether you're growing vegetables, flowers, shrubs, trees, or containers, you'll know when nature has done the watering for you and when it's time to get out the hose.
Instead of glass, we use a durable polycarbonate measuring tube that won't shatter if it's bumped, dropped, or left outdoors. The large scale is easy to read and measures rainfall in both inches and millimeters.
The powder-coated steel stake installs easily in garden beds and landscapes. Because it's easy to move, you can place it wherever you want to monitor rainfall.
The rain gauge is winter safe, so it can stay outdoors all year. It won't measure snowfall, but there's no need to bring it inside when cold weather arrives.
