I had a hard time getting it all the way into the tube. I ended up cutting about 3/4 inch off
The previous copper collection container was not solid copper, but had a separate copper cap as the bottom, attached to the tube. The bottom cap was pushed out due to the freeze last winter and the container no longer holds water. The solid container solves this issue beautifully.
Looks good, but spring rains will tell the story. Have every reason to believe it will work just fine.

I love this rain gauge. However, I found the replacement kit to be hopeless. I followed the directions exactly. I could not get the foam inserted into the tube. I tried several times. It was all scrunched up. Not right at all. I emailed my problem to the address on the card that was vfc enclosed with the kit. I fully intended to just purchase the whole tune after not being able to get the foam inserted correctly. I was shocked to get an email saying I would be receiving a whole tube free of charge. I never expected that. I really li kg e the rain gauge and wanted bvb to continue using it. So, thank you!
The fence mount bracket for the rain gage is perfect.
Perhaps a flat outside table mount would be of interest to customers? You may have already thought of that. Something made of copper or brass so it wouldn’t rust?

We received the rain gauge as a gift. The gauge is easy to read when measuring rain. Once you know the amount of rainfall,it is easy to clear out the water and start all over again. It stays in the ground and the body of the gauge is solid copper so it can be safe in all types of weather, snow and rain. I just purchased one for a good friend to put in her flower and vegetable garden.
I have had my rain gauge for years. Very reliable. The replacement tube is great and even better than the old one. Numbers are very visible from a distance.
