Drought emergencies and watering restrictions can be stressful for homeowners who care about maintaining a healthy lawn. Watching your grass turn brown may make you think it's dying, but in many cases it's simply protecting itself.

The result is a lawn that turns tan or brown. Although it may look dead, dormant grass often recovers when growing conditions improve.
